What is Lanacane Anti-Chafing Gel and what it is used for?

Lanacane is an anaesthetic cooling cream formulated to provide fast relief from itching and irritation caused by a range of skin conditions, including insect bites and stings, nettle stings, cuts, scrapes, skin chafe, external vaginal and external anal itching. Its active ingredient, benzocaine, works by anaesthetizing sensory nerves below the skin surface to stop itching and irritation quickly and effectively, eliminating the urge to scratch.

Before using Lanacane, it is important to note that it should not be used if you are allergic to benzocaine or any of the other ingredients in the product, or any local anaesthetics such as butyacaine and procaine. It should also not be used on large areas of skin, skin rash, sunburnt, infected or broken skin, or on the mouth or eyes. If you have a slow or irregular heartbeat, a history of abnormal blood pigment levels, or are taking sulphonamides or cholinesterase inhibitors, you should avoid using Lanacane.

It is important to consult your doctor before using Lanacane if you have general itching all over your body, or if you are taking any other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription. Additionally, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consult your doctor before using Lanacane.

Lanacane is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. If you have any concerns or questions about using Lanacane, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. Lanacane is an effective cooling cream that provides fast relief from itching and irritation caused by a variety of skin conditions. However, it is important to read the warnings and instructions before using the product to ensure it is safe for you to use.
