Epaderm Ointment is a 3-in-1 emollient that can be used directly on the skin, in the bath or as a skin cleanser. There are no active ingredients in Epaderm Emollient. A greasy moisturiser is formed by mixing yellow soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, and emulsifying wax. It functions by putting a thin film of oil on the skin's surface to stop water from evaporating. Lack of moisture in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of skin cells, causes dry skin. This layer loses its flexibility and becomes cracked, scaly, and even irritating when it is dehydrated. As we get older, and washing makes it worse since hot water and soap destroy the natural oil coating on the skin's surface. For dry skin disorders, particularly eczema and dermatitis, which get worse when the skin is allowed to dry out, moisturisers are beneficial. When used frequently, they aid in the skin's ability to retain moisture and restore its smoothness, softness, and elasticity. Applying them frequently can help the skin from drying out.
